Mesquite NV Pest Control - One of my 'jobs' as a Mesquite NV real estate agent is to take care of some of the move-in details for my home buyers. One important detail is to spray for pest control. Mesquite is in the Nevada desert and we do have pests here. I'm not talking about the neighbor kid riding his bike across the petunias or picking one of your pride and joy cactus blooms. I am talking about bugs - after all, it is a desert out there - we need some pest control and prevention.

Most new home builders spray for termites before they pour the concrete but that does not help with other pest prevention.

I do not want my buyers to move into their new home and see that somebody else has already moved in. And by 'somebody else', I mean a bug - like a spider.

And if you see one bug, you probably have more. Or you will have more soon. Bugs have a lot of friends and family. Bugs have a lot of get-togethers. Bugs are not loners.

So I have one more job to do for my buyers.

I call Jesse's Pest Control every time I have an escrow about to close. Jesse comes out to the house right as soon as escrow closes and sprays the home in and out.

He goes through the whole home, spraying that magic stuff that kills those little creepy crawlers and keeps them away.

Jesse gives the garage an extra dose and does the patios and into the yard.

OK, we're safe! Jesse does such a good job for me and my clients - I recommend him to everyone.

Jesse takes care of my own house, too. After the first pest spraying I have Jesse come back every month or so and spray the outside again - that is usually all it takes to keep bugs out of the house. I have such a spider phobia that I have him do the inside of my house every few months.

Sun City Mesquite is a 55 + Age Restricted Community for Active Adults. Scattered thoughout the communities in Sun City are different pet friendly parks connected by walking paths and trails. Each neighborhood in the development has a park, and there are several larger parks outside the individual neighborhoods.

One of the prettiest of the many parks in Sun City Mesquite is the one on Falcon Ridge Parkway overlooking some of the bluffs and gullies which are held as natural reserves. Benches by the cement pond create a shady area where you can just sit and enjoy the desert and mountain views. This photo was taken on a warm day with a refreshing breeze from the snow topped mountains.

Community Parks and walking trails in Sun City Mesquite NV Active Adult 55 + Community are very user friendly - basically just take a walk and enjoy the gorgeous scenery. If you have a dog, bring him along - potty stations and trash bins are available, usually next to a nice bench. And if there were fish in that pond, it would be perfect!

New Ence homes in the Trailside subdivision in Mesquite NV - finished early and the buyers have already moved in, with a lot of help from their new neighbors. Quite a few people showed up to help unload the truck and the whole thing only took about 1/2 hour. Is that a record for a quick move in?

Randy, Mary and their son, Matt came from South Dakota looking for an existing home, but we couldn't find just the right house with a swimming pool. Most folks assume that we have lots of pools here, but that just isn't so. Then we looked for homes with a pool-sized lot - we do have some of those here. But we still could not find a house that they really liked.

They did like the Trailside subdivision - near Hughes middle school and several of our pet friendly parks in Mesquite. So I called John Johnson from Ence Homes and he met us at the model home. No - that home was not quite what they wanted. John suggested a floor plan that was used in one of the Ence subdivisions in the St George, Utah area.

After a quick trip to see the existing model, Randy. Mary and Matt were ready to pick their upgrades and design choices. Ence Homes in Mesquite NV has a terrific design center in St George with all of the choices laid out. You can actually see what you are getting when you plan a home. You end up with a custom home.

A week later, we were at the design center - fun, but a long day! Then the folks were off to South Dakota, leaving me here to build their home for them. :)

Well, actually, I did not do any of the actual building - but checked on the house as it was being built and got updates at least once a week from John, who took pictures of the different stages of construction for the buyers. The home was finished almost a month early and we had to hustle to get the VA loan approved and all the paperwork in. But we did it.

And it is a beauty. Next step is the heated swimming pool.

My husband, Rich, played the Conestoga Golf Course in Sun City Mesquite with his friend, Shawn Reber. They loved playing the course and were very impressed with the driving range, naming it the Best of any of the facilities of the many golf courses in Mesquite.

The driving range at the Conestoga Golf Club in Mesquite NV is laid out like a big green bowling alley, and very well maintained, the way the grass is cut in straight lines on a fairly level field makes it easy to see how the ball is getting to the pin you are aiming for. You can easily see where the ball is going and how it is getting there as you practice a hook or a slice. Practice, practice, practice!

Conestoga Golf Course in Sun City Mesquite - Awesome course - Voted the best driving range in Mesquite by the RHGA, which is the Richard Hepp Golf Association. :)

Eureka Casino Christmas Party for Employees - Mesquite Nevada

Every year at Christmas, the Eureka Casino in Mesquite NV throws a party for their employees and their guests. Employees can bring their whole family and it is a great time - great for the kids who get to see Santa and get a nice gift, as well as enjoy the good food and drink - all provided by the Eureka Casino. Great for mom and dad, too - they get to enjoy themselves and not cook or clean up the mess.

My daughter invited me as her guest and personal photographer and I had a great time, too. I exceeded my personal best for number of trips to the buffet table, too. Pretty proud of that. :)

Eureka Casino is one of Mesquite's major employers - and many employees have worked there for a long time. It is a fun place to work and they provide very good benefits for their workers - health insurance, vacation pay.

And one more little fringe benefit - the Eureka Christmas Party for the families. Really nice to treat your employees like a VIP - and the owner, Greg Lee, was there to welcome everyone to the party.

One of the stars in this video is my newest grandson, Ryder. He had a blast! He may get me on residuals, though, I should probably check his contract before I make these videos.

Pretty scary!

Mesquite Police Department will be blocking off Yucca Street next to City Hall on Monday from 5:30 to 7:00 pm for the fourth annual Mesquite Trunk or Treat party.

Local businesses and residents have volunteered donations, as well as their time to pass out Halloween candy to all the "little monsters" who attend.

With so many gated communities and second homes in Mesquite, not all neighborhoods here are ghost and goblin friendly. Many of our snowbirds haven't arrived for the winter yet.

Mesquite's Trunk or Treat is a great way for kids to celebrate my favorite holiday in a fun and safe place.

Although I live in a 55 plus active adult community, I still stock up on Halloween candy - just in case I get a bunch of kids trick or treating at my door. If not, I will be forced to eat the leftovers. Again. Can't wait!

Mesquite Nevada Custom Home - Sold in 30 Days

Another Mesquite Nevada custom home sold in 30 days - the good ones go quick! This home was in one of the higher price ranges of MLS listings here, they do not get as many showings as the lower priced homes in our area. Yet the higher end homes that were previously on the market for a long time are starting to sell. Could be a sign of the real estate recovery in several neighborhoods in Mesquite.

Buyers are looking at homes online and coming to Mesquite with a list of homes to see, only to find that many of them are already pending sales when they get here.

Glad it sold quickly, but I am a little disappointed that I did not get to go over and help myself to some of the figs and grapes that were about to be ripe for the picking.

The home was vacant, so picking the fruit from the trees would be part of my listing maintenance, right?

And yes, fruits and vegetables do grow in Mesquite Nevada - even with the desert climate and very little rain. We do have automatic sprinkler and drip systems. :)

The escrow period went well. All 4 days of it! It was a trustee sale, but we got the offer and signatures on Thursday and opened escrow. This was another cash sale with no appraisal or loan to wait for, so we were able to close quickly, but the buyer requested 30 days to close escrow in the contract.

Mr Buyer called on Monday and said, 'Let's close it today!' We couldn't quite accommodate him, but we did manage to close on Tuesday. It is a little easier to get things done when there is No Homeowner Association in this neighborhood. Getting the HOA demands and records can take up to 10 days.

So now the new owner of this lovely custom home gets to harvest the crops!
