The $8000 tax credit is for first time home buyers only on any type of property
Does not have to be repaid
Equal to 10 per cent of the home's purchase price up to a maximum of $8,000
Available for homes purchased on or after January 1, 2009 and before December 1, 2009
Single taxpayers with incomes up to $75,000 and married couples with incomes up to $150,000
First Time Home Buyers who already filed their taxes but are eligible for the tax credit can file an amended return to receive this tax credit.

Virginia, here in Central Ohio buyers will be able to use the 8K for down payment and closing costs.
Buyers need to realize that the time line on this is fast approaching. It ends December 1st, but with short sales taken months upon months to close if you don't start looking now, you could lose out on that FREE money!
