Veterans in Mesquite Nevada will be honored all week with 1000 American Flags proudly displayed in the Healing Field of Honor next to the Mesquite City Recreation Center. Anyone can sponsor a flag and pick it up on the last day of the celebration. Two of my daughters are married to Active Military men, one a Seabee and one in the Army. My husband is a Vietnam Vet - he and both son-in-laws are proud of serving their country. All three men have contributed to our freedom by volunteering to serve in wars overseas.

Virginia - What a beautiful image that is on this day to honor the very honorable.
Jason, It brought tears to my eyes.
A beautiful picture and a wonderful story. Please tell you husband, your girls and your son-in-laws I'm grateful for their sacrifice. Your girls give as their support of their husbands and that means so much as well.
Thank you for your kind words on my post about my Daddy.
Oh, such a wonderful picture, and a wonderful idea.
Thank you for this great American story.
Tammy - you are right, it is tough on the families, too.
Jon - I am going to try to get a shot at night from the overpass, it is lit up and very breathtaking. I feel very American when I look at such a spectacular display of the flag - it is very personal for me.
I wil be waiting for that shot. Just try to stabilize the camera against something, so that you avoid blurry picture, my biggest problems shooting in the dark.
Thanks
HI Virginia from Mesquite. :) I can imagine how long it took to put all those flags up! What a wonderful sight!
Sounds like a true event, and like everyone else, I love the picture.
April, it was quite an undertaking, lots of volunteers, tho, mesquite is really proud of our veterans.
Jon, The only place I can take that shot is from the freeway on a curve, don't want to!
JL, Thanks, my pic does not do justice to the Field of 1000 Flags!
I love the way that one church steeple is smack dab down the end of that center row.
Virginia: This is a great way to pay TRIBUTE to Veterans ! Great Post my friend
Russel - Thanks, I took tons of pictures and liked that affect, too. Makes a little statement!
Roland, Thank you, we cannot honor the Veterans enough.
What a spectacle! This is a great way to honor our vets, troops, and all proud to be American.
