Mesquite NV is a small town of about 20,000 people - it doesn’t seem like even that many live here - we have quite a few people who buy a 2nd home in Mesquite and aren’t even here that much. Many of them will eventually end up selling their first home somewhere and deciding to completely relocate to Mesquite when they retire.
Visit our own Mesquite Chamber of Commerce website for information about relocation to Mesquite. Many business people, like myself, are a member. If you are in town, stop by the Chamber. Everyone there is super friendly and helpful and they have brochures, newsletters, even postcards that you can send home.

Mesquite has miles and miles of Walking Trails throughout the city. You can walk or bike along golf courses, scenic desert bluffs or my favorite - the walking trail along the Virgin River, which runs through Mesquite. It has a paved walkway with lights that come on at dusk, and you can wander off and make your own trail! Take your dog, if you have one, but be sure to pick up after him.
We currently have 4 casino hotels here in Mesquite. They all have very well priced Mesquite NV golf packages that include golf at one or more of our golf courses and staying in one of the hotels.
That is a great way to get a golf
getaway package at a good price - play golf in the daytime and play in the casino in the evening.
You might choose a package that has 2 or 3 days of golf on several different golfcourses and 2 or 3 nights at a hotel. Don’t stay out too late - you will want to get an early tee time, especially in the summer - it is HOT here.
Besides our casinos for 'recreation', we have 6 gorgeous golf courses in Mesquite, including the famous Wolf Creek Golf Course, rated by Golf Digest as one of the top 25 courses in the U.S. and the Palmer Golf Course, home of the Big Break.
If you need a place to stay for a short term or a long term, Siegel Suites might be the place. They offer studio and one-bedroom apartments for rent starting at about $499 per month and up and include all utilities except for phone. Pets are allowed and plenty of parking, including room for your RV or Boat.
Our state of the art Mesquite City Recreation Center is something you would see in a much larger city.

The Mesquite NV Recreation Center is for families and singles with programs, classes and activities for young and not-so-young. Annual or monthly passes are available to residents of Mesquite.
You can even play basketball on the air conditioned indoor court and wait till you see the indoor and outdoor pools!
The outside pool is my grandkid's favorite place to go when they visit in the summer. There is also a smaller shallow pool for the almost swimmers and covered picnic areas to get out of the sun and heat.
Speaking of Mesquite weather, yes we have some beautiful weather here. Sunny and ‘golfable’ almost everyday!
Utilities are very reasonable here - Mesquite is all electric, no gas and we are on Overton Power - the rates are quite a bit lower than Las Vegas. Mesquite water is our own and very inexpensive, from aquifers under the area. You will see water towers all around Mesquite. Even with all of the growth, we currently do not have to ration water like some areas of Clark County do. Cable TV is available or DSL from local carriers.
Property Taxes in Mesquite NV Mesquite has one of the lowest local tax rates in Clark County - Nevada has one of the lowest state tax structures in the U.S.
Mesquite annual property taxes are approximately 1 % of the purchase price of a home.
Mesquite Schools are in the Clark County School District. Virgin Valley High School, Hughes Middle School, Virgin Valley Elementary School. Bus service to and from the school is provided for the kids.
Seniors - Mesquite is an active adult kind of town with a wonderful Senior Center - if you are not interested in going to a casino or playing golf, the city of Mesquite sponsors activities and programs just for seniors.
We have several active adult community subdivisions for 55 plus residents and second home owners.
Speaking of 55 + active adult communities in Mesquite - Pulte Del Webb brought Sun City Mesquite to us in June 2007. With a
large selection of floor plans and very reasonable prices, Sun City Mesquite is the best selling Del Webb community in Nevada and the best selling new home subdivision in Mesquite.
The Sun City Mesquite Pioneer Recreation Center is amazing, with a beautiful indoor pool which is open year round and a huge outdoor swimming pool and spa that overlooks their Conestoga Golf Course.
Membership to the Sun City Mesquite Rec Center with fitness center, billiards room, putting greens, tennis courts and activities is included with their HOA monthly fee.
Residents have access to all of Sun City Mesquite parks and walking trails.
Residents in Sun City Mesquite also get a discount and preferred tee times at the Conestoga Golf Course which is still in construction opened for residents on November 7, 2009. The grand opening to the public was January 30, 2010.
Now that this 55 + community has been open and selling homes for over 2 years, there are now some Sun City Mesquite Resales in Mesquite MLS - homes that may have been purchased as a second or retirement home - many are in excellent condition with upgrades and landscaping already in place.
Ence Homes is one of the premier builders in Mesquite. Ence has announced their new Low Priced New Homes - with prices in the mid $100's, it is a great opportunity. Many folks ask if we have a problem with creepy crawlie pests here in Mesquite - well, it is a desert out there! I have never seen a snake here, and we don't have much of a mosquito problem, but if you are like me and don't like spiders - have your home sprayed to keep them out of your home. We have several pest control companies here, I often use Jesse's Pest Control in Mesquite NV.

Virginia, a terrific job on EVERYTHING one needs to know about Mesquite. I am amazed for a population of 20,000 how much there is there. Outstanding.
Eric - well, it was a secret! :)
Robert - will do!
Gary - Thank you! I am going to keep adding to it. With all the growth here....
You are definitely the go to person for Mesquite!
Sally - thank you, as you definitely are for Milani!
Wow, Virginia, this is such a comprehensive list of information about the area - I am just blown away by how hard you must have worked to create it! If there is anything better than a "go to" person it would have to be you.
ditto to what Lisa wrote. I bet your chamber just links to your blog- great content. Are you going to write my town for me or do I just steal your ideas? just kidding- love your format and pictures. cheryl
Cheryl - Thank you, I just added a tag to the Mesquite NV Chamber of Commerce.
Just steal it!
VIRGINIA: This is an excellent relocation package. I'm sure that anyone looking to relocate to Mesquite will find this to be extremely helpful.
Virginia,
Great presentation and photography. The work putting this resource together is very evident. The photos are so inviting. You might want to add those photos to the Mesquite Localism, along with your other photos of the area.
Richard
Virginia, Great job on the information for your area, looks like a hopping place.
Thanks, Richard - It is a work in progress and I think I will share the pics in Localism, although I have been waiting for the changes they are talking about.
Duane - It is actually a high-growth area, the fastest growing city in Nevada. But you would never know it. I am working on a post about the laid back lifestyle with a video of our '5 o'clock traffic'. Sometimes you have to wait for a minute to see a car go by.
WOW, Mesquite Nevada relocation guide, the best resource I have seen. More useful informaton than the city, and the chamber sites combined.
Nice job Virginia
Virginia, my husband's family is from that area with many relatives still there, so I had to click when I saw the Mesquite Nevada relocation guide. Great job!! With posts like this, that sleepy town will be wide awake with growth.
Awesome job, Virginia. There's no doubt in my mind that I will keep you in mind when I run into someone looking to relocate into your area :)
Elena - thanks - I am glad to help folks thinking about a move to Mesquite. Next time you visit the family, give me a call!
Marzena - thank you! Whether they want to buy or rent in Mesquite - I am here!

Georgina - You are so funny. Thank you again, now I just need to go find a contest.
What a great relocation package you have here.....I think you have answered every question I had :) Thank you Virginia......
Kathy - I wanted to cover the basics plus a little bit more for any one who is thinking of a move to Mesquite.
Wow, Virginia! That is quite an informative post! I love the map! Where did you get it?
I had that Mesquite map made at a very low cost, and use it all the time - "simple, yet elegant..."
This is a great blog, Virginia. You've covered everything. It certainly sounds like a great place to live.
The town should hire you. Great selling job. :)
Virginia, What a wonderful post! This has everything you could ever want to know about Mesquite. One of my team members golfed there a few years back and is still talking about it! Thanks for sharing all this data. When we get someone heading your way - you know who we're referring them to!
Sylvie - I just remembered to update it, it had been awhile - it is ongoing information about relocation to Mesquite - kind of an online welcome package - our chamber does not send them out without charging for it.
Susan - Thanks, Mesquite is getting well known for the golf courses - including Wolf Creek - it is a great little town.
Virginia, Nice getting all these comments on your lengthy post, I'll bet you had help. Just kidding you know, nice to have you back in the saddle.
Virginia,
What an excellent update to Mesquite NV Relocation ! I can't think of anything you've left out. You are definitely the Mesquite NV real estate expert !
This is one comprehensive Mesquite post ladybug! I wouldn't rule out retiring there and we always stop there to eat when we go through there but always forget to warn you (I owe you breakfast, lunch or dinner) that I am coming through.
I have a funny story to tell you. On the 10th I was about 10 minutes away from Mesquite (driving my son to his new home) and I get a phone call at 7:30 in the AM. "HI THIS IS VIRGINIA" (swear she sounded like you!) "Virginia, this is unbelievable, we are 10 minutes from Mesquite, come have breakfast with us." I went on and on and on and it was another agent named Virginia from Vegas inquiring on one of my listings
Greg - Yes, you know I did have help - my little virtual assistant is pretty fast at linking it up. And Annie made that Mesquite map at the end - she is very creative. I wanted people to see where the heck Mesquite NV actually is - right between St George Utah and Las Vegas NV. Don't blink or you'll miss it!
Hi Nellie - Thank you! Did Annie send you guys over here? - All of a sudden I have new comments, thanks! I have to keep this relocation post updated - I send it out as an online welcome package.
Renee - There is another real estate agent named Virginia ??!! That is too funny - I can just hear you talking away. You are so entertaining on the phone, she was probably enjoying the conversation. You do know you have quite an accent - you sound more like a southern belle than a Nebraskan. You better call me next time you are here.
Virginia,
What a wonderful post about your town. I read with interest, and I can only imagine how important all that infomration is for those who relocate to Mesquite.
Was surprised how low your taxes are compared with Florida. And you, too do not have State tax.
Thank you
Virginia - wow - that is some kinda post - I'd love to borrow your template /format to try to do something similar for my area! :-)
Very good post Virginia. It actually looks like enough information for about 5 good posts. :)
Richard
Virginia,
May I put in a request for a Localism post on the Palmer Golf Course, home of the Big Break? :)
Mike in Tucson
Hi Virginia! How did you re-post this?! I've got several that I'd like to do that with--not for points but, ease of re-posting great relocation information! I saw Adam's photo and got all excited thinking he was back and then saw the dates on your comments. INquiring minds...
BTW--AWESOME Localism, hyper-local, relocation information!
Jon - good reason to move to Mesquite - low taxes and inexpensive utilities - here we are in the middle of a desert, sitting on the biggest aquifer in Nevada !
Liz - take my post, please! Do you know who Rodney Dangerfield is? You should make your own relocation post for your area, I send it out as a welcome package to anyone who inquires about Mesquite.
Richard - I originally spent a whole day writing it.
Mike - I will send you a picture next time I have lunch there. LOL
Debe - we solved the mystery and I will probably do it again, now that I found out how.
Awesome post with lots of good information. ..I'm working on one for my area, you've inspired me
Virginia: This post should be featured. This is an excellent localism post and certainly proves you are the local expert for Mesquite.
It is worth the work, Fernando, and you can add to it or edit it later so that it is timeless.
Donna, it is actually an older post, I just edit it from time to time. It is a good Welcome Packet to send to anyone interested in Mesquite.
Virginia I'm in the process of finalizing a relo package - got some great ideas from yours - thank you
Hi Virginia, this is an incredible "relo" packet of info...and I LOVE your map! Wonderful and inspiring :-)
Virginia That is a truky amazing relocation package - you have included everyting - well done
Virginia: Excellent post, packed with local information. You are the go to agent for Mesquite. I know you worked really hard on putting this informative post together.
Thank you all - lots to know about relocation to Mesquite or anywhere - get to work in creating your own local welcome package for your home town - first step is to gather information - then start rambling! LOL
Just wanted to stop by and say I was so impressed with this article. Steven at AR used some of your posts in his recent training so wanted to take a better look. I now officially know that Mesquite is a great place to come visit. Thanks, I have subscribed to your blog, you write beautifully!
Thank you, Corinne ( my sister's name is Corinne, we pronounce it Cor een )
You write very well - your blogs are an easy read, yes, I have read some of yours - and your website is excellent, very user friendly and informative. If you ever want some pointers on your blog and keywording, give me a call.
You should do a relocation post for your blog - easy to email info when you have a welcome packet just a click away!
Thanks Virginia,
I do think a relocation blog would be a great thing to do. I may give you a call this week with that in mind. I know my front page is a little "basic" and could do with some attention.
Corinne - Thanks, many people who are thinking of moving to Mesquite have called me because of this welcome packet - it is on my website as well for local information - the map helps, too.
Virginia this is a fantastic resource for anyone looking to move into your area...nice job!!
Virginia, what a thorough and interesting Relocation Post for Mesuite
Oops, somehow I hit the wrong button and this computer isn't letting me edit my comment. Mesquite NV looks like a great place. I'm sure we drove by on our way to Escalante a couple of years ago. Wish we had known you then! I have been compiling posts to put together as links in a Relocation post, but doing it all in one post is a great idea.
Thanks, Bill, it is handy to send out, even to people wondering about small towns in Nevada to retire to.
Sharon - Thanks, I link from it to other specific posts. You should do one for each of your areas.
You have four casino hotels just in Mesquite? Wow. We have a ton of them in San Diego County, but they are scattered everywhere.
Russel - We have 4 casino hotels in Mesquite, one is closed, soon to reopen - the Indian casinos in California have taken a good bit of business from Nevada, not so much Mesquite - we are on the Utah/Arizona side of Nevada, but Reno and Tahoe numbers began decreasing as soon as they started opening, some years ago.
Virginia this is amazing, what a resource for anyone thinking of a move to Mesquite, Nevada. Great Job!
Hi David, it took forever to write it, it answers so many of the questions that I get, that it is a timesaver to email the link to anyone who asks about relocation to Mesquite. It is also good as a welcome package for newcomers - I work with buyers alot. I am working on another long one, just about things to do here.
Virginia, this is a great relocation package for buyers to look at. You have so many links, that you must be drowning in Google Juice from it...and a flood of google juice is always good...
William, it is handy to have, most of my buyer pool are 55+ looking for a second home or retirement home, they don't know anything about this area, so I send this to them to get them started. Saves us both time and better than mailing a relocation package to them. I update it constantly. You should do one.
Virginia love this post. It must have taken you ages to put together but is a great neighborhood into to anyone moving in or thinking of it.
That would have taken me 2 weeks to get out. Amazing.
Lora - most of my buyer clients are relocating from other states, so this info is helpful to them when they either decide to retire or just move to Mesquite or are just wondering about the area. Some people want to buy a second home but don't know where - I hope they choose Mesquite!
Sherry - all of us should have a relocation package ready for our clients - start small with some local info about your area, you can keep adding to it and linking to specific posts or helpful websites. It took me a whole day to write it, and I have added a few things - all of this info, all of the links are on my website and blog, so it wasn't that hard to gather the info!
