Mesquite is a pet friendly place - People asking about relocation to Mesquite NV might ask if their pets will be welcome, too. If you are thinking of buying a home, all subdivisions allow pets, subject to restrictions on rental property. If you are thinking of renting a home, the owner may or may not allow pets. If pets are allowed in rentals, there will usually be a pet deposit or a slight increase in rent.
There are many pet friendly parks in Mesquite - most of our many public parks allow pets and have pet stations with plastic bags and disposal cans. There are benches to sit on, but you cannot take your dog off the leash.
All of the Mesquite walking trails allow pets - so take your dog, if you have one, pets must be on a leash, and you must pick up after them. Many of the walking paths are lighted at night - handy in the summer when it might be too hot for you or your pet to walk in the afternoon. Bring your own doggie bags.
Walking pets in neighborhoods is fine, too - you can walk them in any subdivision or on any city street, as long as they are on a leash - you do have to pick up after them, anywhere in Mesquite.
Pet Friendly Hotels in Mesquite - we have several hotels and motels that will allow pets - book early on holidays and weekends, most charge an extra fee for pets.

Thank you for sharing this. I hope someone finds exactly what they're asking for here.
Virginia, its great that you recognize that many people are interested in the pet friendlyness of your community. That photo looks like a nice place to take a pet for a walk too.
Hi, Virginia! We pretty much have the same restrictions in newer subdivisions here. Where we used to live two years ago in an older subdivision, some would still leave their pets' gifts on our yard. I think pet owners should pick up whether there's restrictions or not, in my opinion. :)
Hi Virginia! Great relocation post--and I see you're keeping to your challenge!! As for pets--we used to have far more requests for information about children; now, it's pets! Dogs, dogs, dogs! Strange how not only markets change but, households do as well!
Virginia ~ I love walking neighborhoods. I used to think it was an old person's dream... either I'm getting old... or 49 is the new 29. Yeah, I think it's the latter... cuz I like walking neighborhoods!
I hope so, too, Rob.
Samantha, one of the first questions that I ask a buyer is - do you have pets? If so, they get the pet friendly parks in their home tour.
Yolanda - pet's gifts? I love that. Actually, it is a Mesquite city ordinance to pick up after your pet, not just in some neighborhoods - if the police catch you not doing so, you get a ticket.
Debe, I am hanging in there, I actually wrote this early today to miss the rush. :) It seems like all of my clients have pets - lots of small dogs here.
Melinda - Last summer was so hot, I would wait until after 10 or 11 pm to walk my dog - we walked all over the neighborhoods, Mikey got to choose which street we turned on. :) And you look about 29!
Hello Virginia and it's always nice to have a place to walk our pets!
V ;o)
Hi there, Bob - I hear you have some pretty cool dog friendly walking parks in the LV area.
Hi Virginia,
Great community post! Pet's are a part of our family and when purchasing a home we want to make sure they are happy too. It's tough for them to adjust with a new home as much as it is for us. I like how you ask in the begining if your client has a pet. I bet they really like that you ask!!! I know I would!
Linda - Thank you - I think they do appreciate it. I used to ask if they had kids, but most of my buyers' kids have grown - their pets are like their kids.
Mesquite looks like it's neighbor to the south with plenty of pet friendly venues!
Renee - Las Vegas 'dog amenities' are outstanding - I wish we had a dog wash at one of ours. Just recently got dog drinking water fountains. :)
That is so great that Mesquite is so pet friendly. It's a bit more urban where I live, so a bit more challenging, esp in the apartment buildings. Fortunately, it's much easier with cats and my two cats are very happy here.
Hi Debbie - Life is pretty casual here - last summer, the weather was so hot in August, that I mostly walked my dog at night. Midnight walks in the parks are pretty common, I was never the only one out.
Virginia, I've met some really wonderful (now friends) people at the dog park. It's amazing how our pets can open doors for us - something in common. Nearly, everywhere we travel, we find the BEST dog park, that's how spoiled our baby is...hahaha. Nice job recognizing how pets are such a big part of our lives.
Debb, me too! I love pet lovers. :)
Dog drinking water fountains are awesome and a necessity in the summer!
