Mesquite NV - Fruits and Vegetables Grow in the Desert - One of my Mesquite MLS listings has a huge backyard, over 1/3 acre. In this small town, that is a very big lot. I had taken pictures of the lush landscaping and mature trees make this yard so inviting. Only recently did I actually walk back to the far corner of this custom home for sale - wow! Produce!
Mesquite has it's own water - we are sitting on a huge aquifer, maybe the biggest in Nevada. The water is harsh to the skin, most homes have water softeners - but boy do the plants here love the minerals!
This backyard has quite a variety of trees and plants, from blooming cactus to a huge Oak tree.
Even a large Evergreen tree that just makes me want to hang some Christmas ornaments on it. Since the home is in a neighborhood with NO HOA Fees, you can do pretty much whatever you want. Without asking permission from the Homeowner Association.
But the special of the month in this Mesquite backyard is the grape vines with a whole bunch of bunches of grapes getting ready to mature and now I found a glorious fig tree.
It is huge and full of little figs - figi?
I can't wait for them to bloom. Actually, I don't like figs, I am just amazed that this tree is laden with them.
It is a desert here - who knew that growing fresh fruit in your backyard garden is an option?
